On Lombok’s unspoiled Sira peninsula, overlooking the celebrated Gilli Islands and with views of neighbouring Bali’s Mount Agung, can be found the perfect island escape. Situated within its own palm grove and glorious lawns, Sira Beach House is a fully-staffed beach front villa in Tanjung. Pristine beaches and clear warm waters a few short steps away from the house offer guests snorkelling and diving, while the property boasts its own salt water swimming pool plus tennis court and backs onto the beautiful Kosaido golf course. The Tugu Hotel is a 10 minute bicycle ride away – or an easy 20 minute stroll along the beach – while the Oberoi , Lombok is a mere 10 minutes by car. All bedrooms and bathrooms are air conditioned and with picture windows, mosquito nets and bamboo shutters which glide away giving access to wide furnished timber decks. For those that do not like air conditioning, all bedrooms also have ceiling fans. The rooms feel completely part of the gardens in which they sit. All rooms are fully equipped with safes, first aid kits, hairdryers and I-pod docks. There is a complimentary laundry service offered and clothes will be returned wherever possible within 24 hours.
Bedroom at Sira Beach House
This pair of pavilions is set apart from the main house in complete privacy by the beach. They are designed in a typical Sasak style with bamboo clad structures and panels that slide to reveal windows and doors. Entered through a traditional gate into a delightful courtyard garden, there is a choice of the twin bedroom pavilion or the master suite.
The master bedroom with its beautiful four poster bed is enormous, and beyond the timber deck is the beach, so near you feel you could touch it! The walls of the bedroom literally slide away so that to one side there is a library area with desk and to the other side is the bathroom with free standing stone bath (with views of the beach). The bathroom leads to an outdoor shower which is truly special – with bamboo walls, the shower is set on a bougainvillea clad coconut tree with a head height opening through which you can watch the gentle waves on the beach.
The two beach pavilions are each entered from a charming lawned courtyard, with fabulous beach views from their private timber decks. These double rooms have a honeymoon feel. A beautiful Indian day bed covered in soft cushions stands in front of the windows that slide back, so lounging with the gentle sound of the waves and the breeze from the sea is obligatory! Decorated with antique kimonos and Indonesian textiles the bedrooms lead into bathrooms with free standing hand carved stone baths, built in dressing tables, separate WC, as well as a fabulous shower whose glass doors slide back to open it entirely to its outside twin.
The two garden pavilions are each
entered through a private courtyard garden to a sitting area which can double as a single bed making this room a twin or a three sleeper for a couple with a young child. The double bed has beautiful views through the palm grove. Antique textiles adorn the walls and fabulous carved Indian chests decorate this lovely light and airy room.
The bathrooms have large solid stone baths and twin basins, specially designed and carved in Java. Windows slide back for a truly garden feeling – there is a dramatic middle of the room rain shower or of course the outside option under the wide blue skies! These pavilions create a wonderfully private haven within the house.

Living Spaces at Sira Beach House
The sitting room is truly spectacular. Columned on all sides with views towards the beach and across the reflection pool to the dining balai. A cathedral-like traditional beamed and thatch roof soars above with fans and specially designed magnificent pendant lights. All the guests can sit comfortably in this opulent yet simple space. A library table displays a collection of tribal pieces and affords space to play cards, board games or write letters. Bamboo blinds can be lowered for privacy and to protect from the sea breeze. At night some 20 candles niches blaze with light making this room, we believe, the most glamorous in Lombok!
The double aspect dining room looks both across the reflection pool to the Gili islands and to the sculptural sand garden. With a bespoke table for 14, a built-in side board and a dedicated temperature controlled wine room adjacent, this open room decorated with Southern Indian tribal dancing masks is truly spectacular at night when cooled by fans and lit by the candle niches.
The dining Balai is a traditional open structure, built as an island and the focal point of the lotus reflection pool. With stunning views to Bali’s Mount Agung, and offering Moroccan style seating on floor cushions with low tables, this is truly a taste of the exotic.
The swimming pool (19m x 12m) and pool balai are set apart from the villa in the palm grove. The pool balai seats 12 on deep relaxing built-in sofas. This shaggy thatched structure punctured by a shady palm tree catches the sea breeze. With a built in BBQ, drinks fridge and sink as well as a dedicated shower, WC, changing room with outside shower, this is the place to let time drift by.
The chill-out room is exactly that – a fabulous place to chill! Designed to function two ways, all doors slide into the walls to create a double aspect pavilion with a vast built in sofa/daybed & library, cooled by ceiling fans.
Here you can lounge and contemplate the fabulous surroundings. Alternatively, the concealed glazing can slide into place, with the aircon switched on you can watch international TV on the wall mounted flat screen. Even more luxurious is the third option – a projector and screen allows all the guests to watch movies in complete dark and cool! The chill-out room is fully stocked with DVDs, board games (including Risk, Monopoly etc) and a varied selection of books.
Our chef has devised and perfected a selection of dishes as a guideline to what is available. Whether international cuisine or local dishes, the style is simple, in keeping with this remote and pristine location. All produce is sourced locally, either from our supplier or fresh from the market. We suggest that menus are confirmed at least one day in advance in order for the suppliers and the chef to satisfy your requests.
Our wine room has a range of wines, spirits, soft drinks and beers and operates as a mini bar. If you would like any special beverages or champagne please ask in advance for a price list.
Lunch and dinner possibilities at the villas are numerous. A portable table for 8-10 can be set anywhere in the gardens you would care to dine. The beach lit by flares and a table decorated with shells and candles is the perfect setting for a truly memorable evening. Entertainment from the soft hypnotic rhythms of local percussion to a 47 piece band with dancers and fireworks can be arranged. The kitchen and villa are ideal for cooking classes, demonstrations and team and corporate bonding weekends. Please email us for further details.
